We found a great key to making bell peppers even more frugal, and as you might have guessed it came from Trader Joe’s. It’s in their frozen veggies section and they call it Menage a Trois – a mix of green, yellow, and red peppers. It’s only $1.69 for 16 ounces! That’s a lot cheaper than buying fresh ones… and they’re just as delicious!
1 cup of mixed bell peppers $0.40
1 small yellow onion $0.30
1 teaspoon herbs de provence $0.06
1 tablespoon olive oil $0.10
Salt and pepper, to taste $free (ish)
Total cost: $0.86
Thaw the pepper mix.
Add the onions, salt and pepper, and the olive oil to the skillet. Bring the heat to medium. After about 3 minutes, add the peppers, and saute it all for another 5 minutes. ENJOY!
Living frugal…. the only way to go eh mate?
