All of my friends growing up called this “Ginger’s Icing” and it was and is famous among old friends. It is the perfect icing for birthday cakes and will have you licking the mixing bowl.
2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1 large bag of confectioner’s sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine butter and confectioner’s sugar and mix together well. Add the milk and vanilla. Mix until the icing is fluffy and is the desired consistency. Add food coloring if desired.
Add a cake and candles. Sing.
