Focaccia Bread

Make this. It’s really yummy…and then you will have made focaccia bread – how cool is that? This bread tastes delicious when dipped into Olive Oil as an appetizer. It’s also good for sandwiches and just nibbling.

3 cups bread flour                                 $0.90

1 package yeast                                       $0.33

1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil          $0.55

3 tablespoons dried rosemary         $0.30

1 tablespoon coarse sea salt             $0.10

1 1/4 warm water                                   FREE

Total Cost for Focaccia:                      $2.17

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease a rimmed cookie sheet with Olive Oil.

Put flour and yeast into bowl of food processor or mixer fitted with a dough hook. Mix them together and gradually add the oil and water until a soft dough forms.

Remove the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.

Transfer the dough to the prepared baking tray and, using your hands, spread the dough all over the pan, to the edges. Brush the dough with oil. Sprinkle rosemary and sea salt on top (as much as desired), and press  softly so that they won’t move to the edges during baking.

Cover the prepared dough with a warm, damp dishcloth and let it rise for 40 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

**You can change the toppings and add other spices, or even add cherry tomatoes, artichokes, olives, or whatever you like.
