Gardner posted a month ago about Frugal June, which we implemented for a number of reasons. He didn’t tell you the MAIN reason we’re saving every penny we find these days, though. On July 2, 2012, we closed on our first house. Frugal June has now morphed into Frugal July, and I have a sneaking suspicion that Frugal July is going to morph into Frugal 2012 and 2013. But, every penny we are saving is going here:
We love our new house. Our lack of blogging about food may continue as we are slowly becoming more interested in paint colors and electric sanders and trips to Home Depot. All this house stuff doesn’t mean we aren’t eating well, though. Last night, as I was painting all sorts of sample color swatches in our dining room, Gardner was preparing a healthy, delicious meal with salmon.
Even though this is a food blog, and not necessarily a life blog or a home improvement blog (but we have dabbled in that), I think I’ll post some “before” photos of our new house.. because we’re doing some fun painting and projects that we think will really improve the space. Keep in mind – these are the photos from the real estate listing, so none of the furniture or other stuff is ours.
More to come! Stay tuned! 🙂
I’m ready for new photos!! 🙂
Congratulaitons! Though as I read this post I was thinking of all the work you did in the spring clearing the back area of your rental. Well I am sure the next renters will appreciate it.
Congratulations! Despite having to pinch pennies, owning your home is a wonderful thing! We live in Los Angeles and with the economy and uncertainty of freelance writing work, we can’t even *think* about buying a house right now. Have fun making it your new home. 🙂
This house looks great. So excited for you all. This house looks very livable as it is so take your time with all of the planned improvements. Can’t wait to be invited for dinner!
hmmm….maybe a couple raised garden beds where the playset is
Hmmm raised garden bed where playset is?
We are so excited about your new house!!
Love you, Mary and Ron.
