What’s Food without Drink?

We’ve added a new tab called “Drink” at the top of the page. Although the new tab is in its infancy, it’s going to become very robust over the next couple of weeks. We are self-proclaimed foodies, but we’ve also become self-proclaimed mixologists lately, and we want to share some yummy creations with you.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll add categories like Scotch, Gin, Rum, etc…and will thereby let you in on a little secret: we love cocktails. We love how classy they can be. We love the different glasses you serve them in, the garnishes they require, and the special care that it takes to make something taste exceptional.

In the same way that a roast chicken can be dry and awful OR juicy and flavorful, cocktails can be predictable and boring OR absolutely tastebud awakening.

We recommend you start with a Five B’s:

Bourbon, Brown Sugar, Basil, Balsamic Vinegar and Ginger Beer… until I find something more incredible, this is my new favorite thing on the planet. Enjoy! (RECIPE here).

(Kate, this cocktail SCREAMS your name. You could totally make this with Malawi Turbinado Sugar… and, if there’s no basil in Malawi right now, maybe you could replace it with fresh tea leaves?!)
