Woah woah woah. How is it mid-August already? (It’s the 11th, does that count as “mid”?) Somehow I feel like the summer was just one hot, sweaty blink.
[Sidenote: The weather has been fine (not much rain) but hot hot hot. In fact, when the forecast says 90 degrees these days, I think – oh, not so bad!]
This tart seems a little bit more like fall than summer to me – probably just because it’s baked and it doesn’t contain tomatoes. No matter which season is most appropriate for this tart, the bottom line is that it tastes goooood. We found fresh black figs at a farmer’s stand near our house and they were delicious.
Make this tart on night when you want something delicious and fun. Enjoy!
This looks so yummy! Jane brought canned figs from the tree in her backyard in South Carolina, using her mother’s old fashioned recipe. We will save them to see if you think they will work with this recipe! Ymmmm
