Grapefruit Tartare with Avocado and Coriander (aka: Grapefruit and Avocado Salad)

We got a big box of grapefruits just before Christmas (thank you David and Becky and family!!), which provided us with a fun challenge of extending grapefruits beyond the “breakfast with a spoon” approach. Looking through old Bon Appetit magazines, we found a great recipe for Avocado and Grapefruit salad, but we tweaked it a little bit.

Most of you are probably wondering about the title of this salad, and we have answers for you. No, it doesn’t have any mayonnaise-y sauce that you would normally find with fish. No, there isn’t any raw meat here. The tartare part just refers to the presentation, and if you want to learn more, you’ll have to click on the recipe.
