It’s a mirliton! Well, to be precise, those are TWO mirlitons! We only recently learned about these delicious… things… (what do you call them?!? Apparently, they’re technically a squash if you read the label.) This is a Cajun recipe that comes from our family and it’s really, really good. We stuffed the mirliton with shrimp, but you could also use ground beef, and probably other ingredients too.
The lighting isn’t perfect (this is another beach picture… away from our perfect food-picture-taking-environment), but below is a picture of how they came out. The picture only gives you a slight glimpse of just how deliciously different this is from your normal side dish.
