This is a savory, scrumptious pizza that combines some of our favorite flavors. It helps a ton if you have an herb garden…but in case you are saving that for next summer, your local grocery store should carry fresh sage. (Note- we made a small version of this pizza as part of our Pizza Trio Dinner, but you could easily make a larger version, throw together a simple salad, and have this tonight!)

1 large vidalia onion $0.40
1/2 cup crumbled gorgonzola $1.10
2 strips bacon, cooked $0.36
10 fresh sage leaves, chopped $free (from your herb garden…or about $1.25 from the grocery)
1 recipe pizza dough $1.28
1 tablespoon olive oil $0.10
Total Cost = $3.24
Spread pizza dough onto pizza pan, drizzle with olive oil. Set aside.
In a small sauce pan, cook bacon. In same pan, WITH the bacon fat remaining, add the chopped onion and cook until carmelized (soft, brown, and slightly sweet).
Chop the sage.
Sprinkle the onions, chopped bacon, and gorgonzola on to pizza dough. Top with sage. Bake at 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

ENJOY!
This picture makes me soooo hungry!
